In I/O port protection applications, ESD devices on data lines must have the following characteristics: fast clamping, fast recovery response, and very low capacitance values.

The existing USB2.0 protocol allows data transfer rates of up to 480Mbps and supports plug-and-play, hot-plug installation and operation. In contrast, the USB 3.0 specification allows data transfer rates up to 5Gbps, and supports the lower-speed USB 2.0 specification backwards.As a result, USB3.0 interfaces requires lower capacitance ESD protection devices compared to USB2.0.The TVS diodes used in SOCAY USB3.0 ESD protection solution are SE05NRC14GT and SE05T1D12GZ with low capacitance and clamping voltage , which can handle a large number of ESD transient voltage shocks and protect sensitive electronic components in the USB3.0 interface circuit.
